Snow...Again

Continued from a previous post: Snow Here!

For Hannah's 8th birthday, she wanted a 'snow' party. We purchased 30 40lb-bags of snow from Glacier Ice. Our friend, Ed graciously came with his pick-up truck to help us pick up the snow and bring it back to the house.

It filled his whole bed and the backseat of the seating area.

We didn't realize how 'hard' the snow was so it took awhile for Matthew and my brother-in-law, Kenny, to 'soften' the snow.

Of course, you can't have a birthday party without organized activities...at least at the parties I plan!

The first game was a Scavenger Hunt where each person had to find a hidden treasure in the snow.

It took awhile for the girls to find something in the pile of snow. They realized that it wasn't easy to dig in snow (at least not as easy as sand). Some took off their gloves so they can dig better.. but they soon realized that that was a mistake. Their hands were freezing! Eventually everyone started to help one another. They are such a great bunch of girls (whom are Hannah's classmates in school).

After the hunt, it was the Snowman Making Contest. Everyone was given a pail and shovel and they were off creating their masterpieces.

My little 2-yr old nephew thoroughly enjoyed digging and filling his pail. He was completely oblivious to what was going on around him.

The last two activities were Snowflake Decorating...

...and building and decorating their Marshmallow Snowmen.

I served hot chocolate and plenty of snacks. Lastly, Hannah had a decorated 'snow' cake. It even had two skiers on it.

The weather  was perfect. It was actually quite warm (70 degrees). It was so warm that at the last minute I moved everything (food, activities, crafts) outdoors so the kids could stay outside without needing to take off their wet snow clothes before coming inside the house. We just ended up staying outside the whole entire time!

Amazingly, the snow lasted for four more days after the party.
