The end of the school year has come and our KHA 8th graders graduate...
The Class of 2014 was a tiny class of 10 (minus one in the picture)! Smallest ever for the school!
The KHA Bands combined to perform at the graduation as their last performance of the school year. But my daughter was not there... Where did Emily go?
She just missed playing the first two songs: Star Spangled Banner and Pomp and Circumstance
She was a part of the Honor Guard!

The top four (academically) of the 7th grade class are chosen to be the Honor Guard for the year performing at two ceremonies, the 8th grade graduation and Veteran's Day Service (this coming November 11, 2014).

I also was in charge of the 8th Grade Graduation Reception! Yep, my "job" is never done! The 7th Grade Class hosts the 8th Grade Class' graduation reception, a KHA tradition and a gift to the graduating class.
I had some extraordinary parents to help me along with some extremely helpful 7th grade students to put this event together.
The decor was beautiful! I could have never done what Ivy did!
Two parent moms baked a total 100 cupcakes and 60 brownies from scratch! They were delicious! You could tell these were NOT from a box mix!
I hired a friend to create and handmake each invitation...
... and gifted the graduates with a 16x20 collage poster as their departing "favor".
For fun, we replaced the usual 'wedding arch' for portrait taking with a fun photo booth.
The photo booth was just an app on the iPad.
The kids had great fun with it!

I even got personalized stickers for the kisses as favors for the guests!
Only ten graduates? What a tiny school! I thought I went to a small school with my 80-something graduates in the 8th grade. The color guard would be far cooler if they'd just synchronized their movements without the guy shouting at them what to do! Good on Emily for being in the top four! But with such a tiny class it must be more like being in the top half! I love the nails. So creative!
well done, Emily! being a "color guard" looks difficult...it's not such a "known" thing these days! and of course, well done, you! loved the look in the Atrium. and what a great idea to do the poster as the gift for the grads! I tell you, you could write a book--or a blog!! :-)
Heather.. yes we had only 10 this year, the smallest ever for the school. Enrollment for private school is low these days. Tough times! Emily will have 18 for her class though.. I hope! But with the small class size, you can pretty much do anything you want.. run for student council, tryout and make it on a sports team, be in the school play etc.. There is literally no competition!
