In Honor Of...

The girls cut and donated their first chunk of hair in 2009 in honor of a good friend of ours that was battling breast cancer at the young age of 43. In actuality we have known many loved ones who battled breast cancer and felt that we needed to do something to help the cause of fighting cancer. So this past April they cut their hair again to donate to Children With Hairloss, a non-profit organization that uses donated hair to make hair pieces for children who need it whether they can afford it or not. I prefer this organization over Locks of Love since finding out that they sometimes sell their donated hair for money.

After 22 months of washing, drying, and brushing, Emily and Hannah were ready to cut their hair off again to donate to Children With Hairloss Inc. in honor of those they know who are breast cancer survivors and a one current cancer fighter:
• Auntie Carolyn
• Ms. Angela
• Mah Mah
• Ms. Jan
• Ms. Carol
and
• Baby Scarlett Grace (a 5-month old who is currently going through chemo for her cancer; she had a congenital brain tumor; and she is the granddaughter of the librarian of my former school)

Emily donated 9-1/2 inches and Hannah donated 8-1/2 inches. They are thrilled with their short cuts.. perfect timing for a spring break vacation in Florida.

We must thank Jeni, our awesomely talented hair designer and stylist for doing the cuts and generously donating her fee to the organization also.

Children With Hairloss is a non-profit organization that makes and provides hair pieces at no charge to children who have medically related hair loss.

Growing this hair took a very long time..
.. and cutting it took very little time.

Their new do's... perfect for spring and summer.
